Christmas Lantern Parade

To coincide with Bath turning on it's Christmas lights and decorations,  the Holburne Museum holds a spectacular lantern Parade.

The Lanterns are build by families and groups at workshops - held by the museum - and each year an enchanted forest of birds, beasts and mystical creatures wend their way from Holburne through the streets of Bath. They are accompanied by families and friends, children with their own lanterns made at school and visitors - it's a wonderful street party and carnival atmosphere - even this year in the rain!

The work that goes into these lanterns is amazing....... and in the dark they take on a life of their own.........

Mystical and Ethereal ......... they float above the crowds ........

This one is my favourite - a peacock? or maybe a Phoenix - I'm going with 'Phoenix' sounds more enchanted and magical......and also fitting for a lantern!

And after all the lanterns it's the turn of the Christmas Lights .........and also the Christmas Street Market ........ but I'll tell you about that next week.......I'm visiting again this weekend.....

Have a great Wednesday
