A Quick Hall Make Over

I rather grandly call the entrance to our cottage 'the hall' in reality it's a tiny little space - just over a couple of meters square that you can barley swing a cat!

However, it still the entry to our house and as such I want it to look bright and welcoming. Last weekend I decided to do a quick makeover and freshen it all up.....

Everything got a good clean, the slate floor was scrubbed, the stain glass in the front door was washed and polished, all the walls and woodwork given a new coat of white paint with the door leading to the kitchen painted in farrow and ball Dix blue. Although it looks slightly darker in this picture...

I moved an old cider jar into the corner and sorted out all the coats - leaving only a few on wooden hangers.....and all the woolly gloves, hat and scarfs were sorted out for the winter and stored in a small wicker blanket box.

And on a little strip of wall by the front door I fixed 5 large red tiles - I bought these at an auction 20 years ago and have never used them - this spot is perfect and they are warm and welcoming....

So now with the hall all bright, clean and lovely it makes the rest of the house look a little shabby - so I best start on all the rest.......

Have a great day
