A Garden Visit

I love walking around large gardens of stately homes and estates. I like to pick out ideas that I could do at home - I never follow my plans through but it's good to have a dream. Visiting in the Autumn is my favourite time. Everything is being snugged down for the winter, cloches are out, earth turned over, bulbs are being planted and a few late fruits are still clinging to the trees....it all feels managed and in control, the plants feel like they are relaxing, everything feels calm, slow and gentle.......the smells are musty and earthy, with the 'bones' and structure of the garden showing through.

Last weekend we visited the gardens at Heligan in West Cornwall and it yielded a lot of photo opportunities...

Here are a few just to give you a feel of our day ........

I especially loved the citrus and pineapple house ......

And the bee skeps ......

Oh and also the greenhouses .......

I have loads more to edit so I will post a few more next week.....

Have a lovely day
Love Lizx
