The First Advent Hyacinth

The post title says it all - my first winter flowering hyacinth is up and flowering and it looks beautiful and smells even better.......

I like to arrange them in different ways to decorate around the house at Christmas. This one I have placed in an old brioche tin (I left the bulb in it's original pot and placed sand around it to hold it all together) making a simple woodland arrangement around it with moss, fir cones and lichen - which will fit in with my Christmas decorations.......

Because this arrangement is in a brioche tin I will probably place by the window seat in the kitchen .......

The first bulb of the season and one that starts to flower on the first day of advent means that I must photograph it .......

a lot.....

from every angle - I just love the green colour tips on the end of the flowers....

And even the shadows, that the flowers cast, get photographed!.....
I hope you liked my pictures - I will be sorting out some more arrangements to go around the house for Christmas - but only white hyacinth are allowed with may be the odd Amaryllis bulb included ....... as long as it's white!..... they always have to be white........in this house anyway!
