A low key low stress Holiday

We changed our plans at the very ( & I mean VERY!!!!) last minute and decided that instead of sailing over to France for our usual holiday in Brittany, that we would rather like to see Scotland!

So armed with a map - we jumped in the car, threw in a tent & off we went.

Not being content with just Scotland our planned destination was Orkney and all it's surrounding Islands - we have a bit of a thing for small islands and their communities and try to collect at least one new one every holiday!

Now, I don't want to run the risk of writing a 'what we did on our holidays' post but I do want to share with you some of my pictures of Scotland & especially Orkney.

I hope you enjoy them......

So many stunning mountain ranges and small Lochs every view was worth a picture....

.....I took so many images like this - & I can't remember where each one was ...... should have turned the GPS on my camera on!!!!

Amazing sunsets ...

Finally - having been at Lands End in Cornwall recently - we reached John O'Groats...not sure what Andrew was doing here! my driving wasn't that bad!

Dreaming he's on his boat and not being made to camp!!!

 Looking for these guys....

I just loved all the puffins and their comical ways....we watched them for ages.....rather proud of this photo

on the ferry over to Orkney..he's not looking at the view - probably redesigning the ferry in some way.....

our car is down there!................. and our silhouette above!

Our destination - the harbour at St Margaret's Hope on South Ronaldsay

Loads of these chaps.........everywhere...

Trying to look pensive! with the Stones at The Ring of Brodgar

View of Hoy on our ferry journey to Westray

A very relaxed seal on Westray -and I mean a VERY relaxed seal - he stayed like this until he floated off with the tide!

I couldn't believe the size of this whale skeleton

One of the beautiful beaches on Westray - where we sat to wait for our ferry back to South Ronaldsay & our tent!

Views around Stromness on mainland Orkney

and across to Hoy

And to top it all off -  I even got to see a man walking his dog in a kilt........

the man was wearing the kilt........

                                                                       not the dog.........
